Eye Scream: A dead dinosaur with a plant growing through its eye socket is seen at one point. It actually applies to this movie, as the plot's focus is on the supernatural nature of the island, with the dinosaurs being simply one threat/feature of many (albeit the most prominent one, and the director even admitted they were intended to be the main focus of the movie, despite not being totally needed for the plot). Everything's Better with Dinosaurs: This trope refers to when dinosaurs aren't totally required for the plot.Domesticated Dinosaurs: Kate has a pet Sinornithosaurus named Mimos, who acts a little like a bird.Captive Push: When Lucas and Kate are captured by the Wacky Wayside Tribe, they are pushed along with their hands tied.If Kate is his maternal grandmother then his mother fits the trope as well.Lucas is dark-skinned like his mother but has a Caucasian father. Also, Sinornithosaurus wasn't named until 1999 - Kate would probably have recognized it similar to feathered specimens like Archeopteryx. However, calling them raptors wasn't popularized until Jurassic Park. Kate refers to the Utahraptor-like dinosaurs as dromaeosaurs - Dromaeosaurus was first described in 1922, the earliest discovered relative of dinosaurs like Velociraptor, Deinonychus, and Utahraptor although the distinctive sickle claw wasn't known. On the one hand, it's no mean feat putting a feature film together: on the other hand, Ed Wood. And the girl who plays Kate is required to speak in a clipped British accent, for no reason that I could see, which stretches her just a bit too far.Ĭredit and blame must go to story / scriptwriter / producer / director / special effects supremo Scott Drummond (suggestion, Scott - don't plaster your name all over the rather attractive title sequence before the film starts, leave it to the end).
DINOSAUR ISLAND MOVIE 2014 FULL
The script is full of lines which ring false, and the kids overact and deliver some unconvincing line readings of linex which weren't very convincing to start off with.

Not so much fun are a) the script and b) the two main youngsters. The dinosaurs are (literally) colourful, not to mention feathered. It's certainly way better than what we've seen over the yezrs from Asylum and the Syfy Channel. There are LOTS of dinosaurs and, while the CGI may not be up to blockbuster tentpole movie standards, it's not bad. This is a film for kids and, specifically, kids who love dinosaurs. Young Lucas finds himself marooned on a mysterious island populated with dinosaurs, wrecked ships and aircraft, and a self-possessed young girl from 50 years earlier.
